4: A survey conducted by the Red Cross found that while 80 percent of Americans said they could swim, only 56 percent of the self-described swimmers can perform all five of the basic skills that could save their life in the water. So get practicing those strokes!
5: The Titanic was the first ocean liner to have a swimming pool.
6: Doctors say that swimming not only strengthens the heart and lungs, but is also ideal for working out all of the body’s major muscles and reducing stress.
