Cracked and broken pipes. A ruined filtration system. A seemingly insurmountable mess next spring.

These are just a few of the problems that can arise if your swimming pool isn’t properly closed for the season.

There are several steps involved in closing a swimming pool in the fall that are critical to safeguarding your pool through the winter, especially in cold-weather climates like Cape Cod. A professional closing also greatly reduces the amount of work needed in the spring when it’s time to start swimming again.

While it may seem counterintuitive to give your pool a good cleaning when it will sit and get dirty all winter, this is actually a crucial step. Removing any floating debris and thoroughly vacuuming the pool, as well eliminating any algae, will reduce staining while your pool isn’t in use and ensure a speedy opening when the weather warms.

We’ll also do a number of things which are geared toward protecting your swimming pool and all of its systems including draining and winterizing the filtration and heating systems, storing any ancillary equipment such as diving boards and slides, and lowering the water level. Lowering the water down to a proper winterization level, rather than completely draining it, will protect tile and coping.

It may also seem counterintuitive to arrange your closing now when there are still weeks of warmth weather ahead, which we completely understand. We’re not fans of back-to-school ads in July and holiday advertising that begins before Halloween either. But with so many Cape Cod swimming pool owners relying on Shoreline Pools for their fall closings, our calendar fills up quickly. By reserving now, you’ll be assured of a timeframe that works for you and your family.
